National League Rugby is delighted to announce we have extended our partnership with STATSports – the world’s leading company in GPS Player tracking – for 2024/25.

Last season, STATSports opened up discussions and worked with many of our clubs to provide them with the most advanced wearable tech on the market.

Teams such as Dorking and Esher were able to track and analyse the performance of their players which enabled them to collectively take their game to the next level.

As for clubs like Luctonians, they experienced another historic campaign as they finished second in National Two West and Ryan Watkins’ side were aided by STATSports after the Herefordshire outfit won our pre-season competition in 2023/24.

“It has been really useful for us,” said Luctonians forwards coach George Thomas. “The players have really bought into it. They like seeing the data and I think it gives us, at our level, everything we need to progress. I think it is giving us another level of professionalism within the team and it is really important to help drive standards for players.”

“The STATSports GPS units have been a great tool for us to measure both performance and load,” added Dorking Director of Rugby Armand Roux.

“It allowed us to make some informative decisions on load management but also just as importantly, what metrics we should aim for when we are training. We have used the units across the Men, Women and Colts and the results were very helpful.”

By extending our partnership with STATSports, they will continue to offer clubs in National One and National Two the opportunity to obtain player data which some of the most elite teams in the world also have access to.

Metrics such as Total Distance, Max Speed, High-Speed Running, Distance Per Min, High-Intensity Distance and Sprint Distance can all be analysed using STATSports’ equipment. Last season, STATSports also introduced a free new feature which measures impacts.

One of STATSports’ most popular products is the FREE, non-subscription Apex Coach Series. Now featuring 19 metrics, it simplifies the data to allow coaches to track player performance on laptops and tablets. Players only need to have an Apex Athlete Series unit for coaches to see their data.

This product, in particular, is aligned with National League Rugby’s vision of wanting to see all teams at all levels improve. Payment plans can also be designed to suit teams + discounts are available for multiple squads.

In addition to this, STATSports Sonra is a new option for National League Rugby clubs. This Coach Lead system uses the same award-winning software as the All Blacks, the Springboks and Ireland. It’s an affordable option allowing clubs to use the technology with multiple teams.
