Talks remain ongoing around the restart of the National Leagues
NCA chairman John Inverdale was today at pains to stress that discussions between the RFU and the DCMS [Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport] were still ongoing on a regular basis, with a view to getting a resumption in play as soon as possible.
One option being considered for a return play, as has been reported, is a cup competition specifically for the National League clubs, with finals at prestige locations but discussions around the format for this season will hopefully be finalised in the not too distant future.
“It is hugely frustrating, increasingly so, but it has to be put in the wider context of what is happening with local lockdowns and tighter restrictions,” Inverdale said.
“The RFU have high level meetings coming up in the next couple of weeks when decisions about the future direction of this season will be made. All we can do is ask clubs to be patient, and understand that those that can are doing everything in their power to expedite the situation.”
Once again, we will continue to keep our clubs updated with all the 2020-21 season developments and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
